This paper is divided into six sections. The introduction provides context, the second section takes a cursory look at the current legal framework on maternal and sexual reproductive health in Nigeria, the third section analyzes the role of public service in fostering gender transformative maternal health care service, while the fourth discusses the conceptual framework of gender transformative approach in maternal health care service delivery, fifth identify setbacks, challenges and proffered recommendations and the sixth is a deep dive into the gender transformative practices and the concluding section which put all the issues in perspective.
