CSW66: Male engagement to address harmful norms and promote gender equality

Sonke Gender Justice and MenEngage Africa are hosting two side-events at the 66th Commission on the Status of Women (CSW66).

The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) will hold its sixty-sixth session from March 14 to 25, 2022. (CSW66). The theme of CSW66 is “Achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls in the context of climate change, environmental and disaster risk reduction policies and programmes”.

Join us on March 16 and 24, 2022, as we discuss Male engagement to address harmful norms and promote gender equality as well as Addressing shifts in the world of work and care work.


Sonke and MenEngage Africa’s 1st session Male engagement to address harmful norms and promote gender equality.

This side event will reflect and share on work done around engaging men and boys for gender equality during the Covid 19 era. This event will reflect on partnerships with feminist leadership and the role that men play as partners and allies in addressing harmful social and gender norms and practices such as FGM and child marriages that perpetuate gender- based violence against women and girls, resultantly compromises their health and well-being.
