Impact of Covid-19 on the Sexual, Reproductive Health and Rights of Women and girls

The Saleema Initiative on Eliminating Female Genital Mutilation is a programme of the African Union, launched by Heads of States in 2019 to galvanise political action and accelerate the elimination of this harmful practice. Working within the mandate of the Commission of convening, providing technical support to and facilitating the implementation of decisions and standards adopted by Member States – the initiative looks to advance a coordinated, continental agenda pushing for action on legislation, resource mobilisation, evidence and data, and critically, accountability on commitments to see an end to this gross human rights violation.
