SUMMARY

The intersections of gender with health and health systems are highlighted. This is followed by a discussion of policy and practice in various sectors to understand the concepts of gender ‘blind’, gender-sensitive, genderresponsive and gender transformative practices. To further gain a nuanced understanding of these concepts, the latter part of this document presents two case studies (i) Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services in India and (ii) Health system response to Gender Based Violence (GBV) in India.
