INTERNATIONAL AIDS CONFERENCE: Sonke Director, Dean Peacock, presented at the 17th International AIDS Conference in Vienna on male involvement in the prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) of HIV. He was joined by colleague, Patrick Godana, who presented on Fatherhood.
SAB CAMPAIGN RETRACTED: Sonke and civil society partners have forced SAB to retract their “Grootman vs Laaijtie” advertising campaign which promoted the drinking of excessive amounts of alcohol with being a ‘real man’. POLICY CONFERENCE: Sonke has recently hosted the MenEngage Policy Conference in Johannesburg, bringing together people from across the sub-continent to discuss why and how to advocate for changes in policy and to promote policy implementation. The Conference concluded with an agreement on the policy priorities for MenEngage Africa.
