MenEngage Africa Learning and Exchange Symposium on Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR)

Join us from 23rd to 25th October 2023, at the Birchwood Hotel & OR Tambo Conference Centre in South Africa, as we explore the critical theme of “SRHR for All: Building a Better Future for Africa’s Youth.”

Empowering Youth, Transforming Futures

Sonke Gender Justice, MenEngage Africa (MEA), and esteemed partners such as Save the Children International (SCI), Frontline AIDS, and Y+ Global are bringing you a groundbreaking three-day event. Together, we’re shaping a brighter future by promoting Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) for all in Africa.

In Africa, SRHR remains a critical challenge. Comprehensive sexuality education, safe abortion, and accessible youth-friendly health services are often out of reach, particularly for marginalised communities. With the highest pregnancy and unintended pregnancy rates globally, urgent action is needed. Our symposium aligns with strategic plans, focusing on LINK, LEARN, IMPROVE, and INFLUENCE strategies, aiming to drive change alongside international partners like UNESCO and UNAIDS.

This symposium serves as a dynamic platform for collective action, knowledge exchange, and collaboration. As we stand on the cusp of significant milestones like the 30th anniversary of the ICPD and the African Union Convention to end violence against women, our timing couldn’t be more crucial. We’re uniting a diverse array of stakeholders, from youth leaders and civil society organisations to government representatives and healthcare providers, all dedicated to advancing SRHR and gender equality in Africa.

Join the movement for a future where SRHR is a reality for all in Africa. Let’s build a better, empowered tomorrow together.
